College Football Transfer Cuts .24 Off His 40-Yard Dash With Off-Season Training

* Speed & Strength Workout Plan At Bottom *

Once you experience playing college football you know the standard and expectations that are set for you as a college athlete.

The workouts are grueling (yet highly effective) and often the only thing that gets you through it is knowing that that are mandatory and you’re training with the team and everyone is training to play better football.

Such was was the case for Griff as he was in midst of transferring from Ashland University to play football at Wayne State, he knew he had to find a place that would help him train and prepare for a starting spot when he gets to campus.

The former Orchard Lake St.Mary stud was coming off a minor toe injury, he knew he had to prepare in the off-season to compete for a start job when he hits campus at Wayne State.

He discovered Athletic Preparation through Google search and liked the results that another college football safety got and then as they say…

The proof is in the pudding.

Coach Josh's note

Griff was true professional.

He often commuted 30-45 min from Royal Oak or Detroit to make his training 3-4 days / week.

He ALWAYS lead by example, never complained about workouts and always showed up ready to train, compete and really raised up everyone else around him which is why he got the results he did.

I’m thankful for the time I got to work with him and develop as friends over the course of his training.

" I gained like close to 20 pounds. My bench went up maybe 30, 40 pounds. Vertical jump went up about 4 inches. And my 40 went down .2 of a second. " - Griffin Sheposh , Wayne State University , Safety

How did you find out about Athletic Preparation?

When I transferred from Ashland, I came home. I knew I had a year and I knew I still had to work out. So like I knew if I would've just go to the gym by myself, I wouldn't like push myself as hard as I could. So I started looking around for a trainer….

I didn't really know anyone in the area, so I went on Google. Josh's name popped up and there was also a review from somebody that said that they played college football and they worked with him and that he was great. So I came in here for my introductory day and we like really hit it off and I gave him my goals, which were basically everything. I wanted to get bigger, faster, stronger, just become a better football player. And he kind of broke down what the workout was going to be for me and I loved it. So I've been with him ever since.

What has been your experience training at Athletic Preparation?

Coming from like the college atmosphere, knowing college weight room, how college strength coaches would like interact and how they rate their programs. I kind of had like high expectations for what I wanted to get into. And I mean every day with Josh, we do the same lifts that we do in college. We do the same running, same agility drills. It's really similar to what a college weight room would look like and what a college strength coach would give you.

What were you goals coming in for football training ?

So when I came in, my goals obviously we're getting bigger, faster, stronger, and he helped me get all those. I gained maybe like close to 20 pounds. My bench went up maybe 30, 40 pounds. Vertical jump went up about four inches and my 40 went down about two tenths of a second.

Would you recommend other Athletes should train here ? Why ?

This training is super important for me and I can see why would it would be super important for any athlete that wants to get better at working three, four times a week with a trainer and doing the speed training, the strength training. It just gives you a leg up on everybody else who may be working out by themselves, or not working out at all.

You'll just notice the difference when you're out in competition against other people on who's really going hard and who's not.

When I got to college, you know, in high school I was always one of the better athletes, always strong and fast. And then I remember first day at college looking and seeing these 23 year old guys that were just way ahead of me in the weight room and like way faster, way bigger. And so I wish, like back in high school, I had a little bit of training, you know, like I had trainers, I had strength coaches. But if I were to came in here and worked for months leading up to when I reported for college, I feel like I would have been in much better shape.

One big takeaway for me is, you know, every day just coming in here. It's a great group of guys that workout in here and girls.

Josh, he really cares about all of us. And now being with him for some months, it's definitely more of a friendship than a trainer and athlete relationship.

Like I can clearly tell that he cares about us and everybody in here. And he's made me and I've seen it with the guys I work out with, everyone's been very productive, got a lot better. So it just, it's a good place to come every day and train.
